Your mercy – my salvation

For the family in which the child is seriously ill, it's required a large supply of patience and strength to cope, and especially there is a need in love and support of relatives. But this story has no place for maternal love, and it will be about a sick girl Lena with a terrible diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, and for her health are fighting the most native people – her grandparents. This fight has been continuing for years and the family needs of our support.

Olena was a healthy baby, while her mother was disabled of the 3rd group. No signs for trouble, active girl successfully finished kindergarten, then went to school, at the age of 6 she started dancing, she was high achiever in sports lessons – and that were the most memorable years in the child's life. But the fairytale ended.

The divorce of her parents and the new husband of her mother led to the fact that at the age of 10 Olena went to her grandparents' home in Zaporizhzhia. At that time her father had other family and these changes had led to a nervous stress – and the child wasn't needed to be seen in her native city Zaporizhzhia.

Rescuers of the child in such a difficult situation became her grandparents who live in Dniprepetrovsk. Loving family love very much their granddaughter – success in school, new friends, positive emotions – all these help to cope with the stress. But the sad story of this remarkable girl doesn’t end.

When Olena was 11 years old, she had weakness in her legs and bad eyesight, and in addition to all – an accident at school – she fall down from the stairs.

In August 2010, Olena was in the hospital and 3 months later she was given a disability diagnosis, and a "Shtriumpel" disease. Till September she was appointed home instruction, and since April 2012 Olena didn’t walk. Doctors didn’t administer any treatment. In June 2013 MRI was done, which denied the diagnosis, a new disease in family’s life – multiple sclerosis. With this diagnosis the child was sent into the hospital, but treatment did not give any results.

After repeated requests for medical treatment in other hospitals in Ukraine, Olena was admitted to the NDSL "Okhmatdyt", which was carried out a full examination and prescribed treatment by "Betaferon", the cost of one package of the medicine is about 15 000 UAH. In Lena’s case the duration of treatment with this medicine have to be 5 years long. But this is a huge amount for two pensioners who so want to see their granddaughter healthy. The faith in the goodness of people and responsiveness gives strength to this wonderful family to live and fight for the life of their beloved granddaughter.
