Difficult way to recovery. 2

Dear donor! You have already provided help to Vityusha Porokhovy, a child with disabilities who, as a result of asphyxiation at birth, experienced a hemorrhage in the brain, brain edema, was in the intensive care unit for intensive care for newborns on a ventilator for a month. He was diagnosed with encephalopathy, and later with internal hydrocephalus. 

The circumference of his head was permanently increasing as well as the cranial pressure. During one and a half years of his life, the child had ten cerebral bypass operations so as to remove the accumulating fluid and, consequently, it became necessary to treat inflammation of the ventricles of cerebrum and meningitis.

As of now, the doctors diagnose gross delay of psychomotor development and spastic tetraparesis. The child needs rehabilitative treatment. Now Vityusha is almost three years old but he cannot stand, does not walk and speak. Until recently he could not keep his head and sit without assistance. Still, due to the latest rehabilitative treatment course, which was administered to him in February, the kid considerably improved his condition. He became to better work with hands, now he can sit when assisted, he can keep his head for a long time without any external support, he better understands speech addressed to him and even speaks some words.

The child likes massages very much, same as various procedures in the water pool, therapeutic mud and jetted tubs. In the Centre the child also gets the advice of the neurologist, physiotherapist and therapeutic exercise specialist, he gets movement therapy, suspension therapy, medical exerciser sessions, joints development, paraffin applications and he works with a speech therapist and psychologist. All that facilitates restoration of the child’s organism supremely well. However, regretfully, this is a very long and, above all, costly process. In June, the baby was enrolled in two joint rehabilitation courses with an interval of 4 days at a cost of 38,000 UAH. Such amount is just impracticable for the family where there is another disabled child with a cerebral palsy and microcephaly.
