You've already met Vitia, a special kid with a disability. He was born prematurely, at 33 week in asphyxia, his weight was only 1800 g. The consequences were tragic for Vitia. His body immediately reacted to this pathology with Intracerebral hemorrhage of the highest degree 4. The baby was taken to the intensive care unit immediately after birth. He couldn't breathe on his own and was on artificial ventilation for a month. Encephalopathy and later internal hydrocephalus, inflammation of the cerebral ventricle and meningitis were the diagnoses with which the baby's life began. During a year and a half of his life, he underwent ten brain shunt surgeries to remove the fluid that was collected there. 

For a long time, Vitia did not hold his head, did not sit, did not stand, did not speak. He was diagnosed with a severe delay of psychomotor development, spastic tetraparesis. The child is now 3.5 years old. Thanks to your help, he has already had four rehabilitation courses at Victoria Rehabilitation Center. The boy has made significant improvements. Now he holds his head on his own, sits and stands with support, crawls himself, says "mama", "papa", "baba". It's a very big achievement for his diagnoses. Along with physical therapy, massages, therapeutic gymnastics, hanging therapy, training on simulators, joint development, paraffin applications, individual sessions in the pool, the child is engaged with a speech therapist and psychologist at Victoria Rehabilitation Center.

Condition of Vitia’s vocal cords and voice is improving, chewing function is becoming normal, muscle tone of articulation apparatus is restoring by the results of speech therapy massage. After the classes with the psychologist, the psycho-emotional condition has leveled, he began to understand better the speech addressed to him and his communication abilities improved. According to the rehabilitation physicians, the child is very promising and it is necessary for him to continue classes. But the rehabilitation treatment is not cheap. The next course, scheduled for May, costs UAH 27,000. Besides Vitia, there is another child with a disability (diagnosis of microcephaly) in this family.
