Timely diagnosis – healthy future for children!

Diagnosis of hearing in newborns and children who for various reasons are referred to the ENT is one of the necessary procedures! Parents usually notice hearing problems in their children at the age of 3-4 years, as a result of which the child may remain with speech problems forever, which leads to many problems and the status of a person with disabilities. And timely diagnosis plays a crucial role in this situation and can ensure a full future for the child!

The Sokyryan Hospital in Chernivtsi region desperately needs equipment that diagnoses hearing in children and adults: an audiometer. The hospital provides medical care in all directions in all directions, including childbirth and public care in the ENT office. The administration of the hospital, which always cares about the quality of medical services for patients, is faced with the fact that the institution is in dire need of an audiometer!

In 2021, almost 4,000 patients were treated by an otolaryngologist, and 66 operations were performed in the ENT office. And for a comprehensive diagnosis it is necessary to undergo audiometry, and in this case patients are sent to the regional clinic in Chernivtsi, located at a distance of 150 km.

About 300 births take place in the hospital every year. According to statistics, 5% of the world's population needs rehabilitation to solve the problem of hearing loss (WHO data). 6 out of 1,000 children are born with hearing problems, and 1 in these children is diagnosed with deafness.

Parents notice hearing problems in their children at the age of 3-4 years (the time when the child must learn to speak), at this age the compensatory capacity of the brain is not the same as, for example, a one-year-old child, as a result of which the child may remain forever language, which leads to learning delays, low social adaptation and problems in adult life. And as much as possible – this is the status of a person with disabilities. A deaf child is a child with speech problems, and a deaf child who was not provided with hearing aids at one time becomes deaf-mute in 4-5 years.

The most effective and realistic way today is the timely diagnosis of the child's hearing in the maternity hospital, as well as during the first year of life of the baby with an audiometer – an electroacoustic device for accurate measurement of hearing acuity.
