For more than five years, Caritas Kharkiv has been taking care of elderly people who have lost their homes, have no relatives and are bedridden. Our social assistance is aimed at supporting their health and life in new social housing or hostels. Many of them endured considerable stress during the fighting in the east of Ukraine and were forced to leave their past achievements and move to new places. Here they learned to re-equip their lives and live.

They find themselves in very difficult life circumstances that keep the elderly daily in the midst of poverty, moneylessness and total savings, and most importantly, full functioning. Living conditions are different from those used to be, before the start of the humanitarian crisis in Eastern Ukraine for the elderly. Rental prices are virtually inaccessible to low-income people, who are the vast majority of retirees, and it is painful to talk about the comfort and convenience of a temporary residence.

Individual hygiene is essential to maintain good functioning. People who are bedridden or have mobility restrictions become dependent on special hygiene products that provide comfort and a sense of cleanliness. Unfortunately, these funds are very expensive and our wards have no money to buy them. We want to create the most comfortable accommodation for her, so we ask you for help.
