Big challenges of little Kyrylo

Kyrylo was born at 38 weeks in October 2018. As a result of a complicated birth, the boy was diagnosed with occipital cephalohematoma and hemangioma in the left leg. However, on day 3, Kyrylo was discharged from the hospital in a satisfactory condition. Later, his mom began to notice some abnormalities, such as arching the back. That is when she sought medical advice.

At first, medical professionals could not find any medical explanation for his symptoms. But after one year of countless doctors visits, tests and treatments, the boy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and other conditions associated with it, such as double hemiplegia, kyphoscoliosis, talipes equinovarus, motor disorders, and developmental delays. 

Two years ago, Kyrylo's parents divorced, and since then, mom Marina has been raising the boy alone. Every day, Kyrylo bravely fights for a full life, and he has been able to reach some milestones such as rolling over, sitting up, and head control; he also enjoys being in the water. He communicates well with other children. Currently, Kyrylo is learning to eat independently. 

In order not to lose the acquired skills and progress further, Kyrylo requires regular physical rehabilitation treatment. Physiotherapy plays a vital role in the management of cerebral palsy. It focuses on optimizing movement, function, balance, posture, tone, and strength. 

Kyrylo is hoping to attend a necessary rehabilitation course soon. As a single mother raising her child with a small monthly pension, Marina cannot afford costly rehabilitation courses, with the need for such treatments recurring several times a year.
