From a heart to a heart

Vladik’s life has just begun and he does not know how bright the world may be, which colors a rainbow has, how warm the Sea of Azov is in summer. And he can miss all of it in his life because the little heart of the child is very weak and needs urgent help! The boy was born with a cardiac anomaly – atrioventricular communication, with which the boy might live 5 years at the most if no surgery is made.

Vladik’s parents are a young family from the Yalta urban settlement in Donetsk Region. They dreamed of a child so much! But after his birth their colored night dreams turned into awful grey monotony, and their dreams melted as snow in spring – Vladik’s diagnosis sounded as a verdict. All family money was spent on medicines, parents’ joy turning into insufferable pain. “Each day I live in fear for life of my little son – every five minutes I check his breath and listen to his heartbeat” – tells Victoria Budyka, the boy’s mother.

Vladik’s parents managed to raise money for the surgery on their own but their 5-month child will need long-term drug rehabilitation, no money left with the young family.

At present the young family is in difficult situation, they can rely on nobody’s support. But in spite of all the misfortune, the parents are gratified even by such life as their son is already able to stand up, holding on their hands, turn sideways and on his tummy, keep a toy in his hand and smile. His parents want badly their sonny to be healthy – please help Vladik to get this chance!

Now Vladik with his mother are in the intensive care department of the Institute of Heart of the Ministry of Health in Kyiv – last week the boy had a vital cardiac surgery. The child is still very weak, he is very nervous when given medicines. To calm her son after a regular administration of medicines, his mother kisses the child and sings him soft songs. She is confident that there are kind and caring people among us, who will save her child by all means, having heard the beat of his little heart …
