Four-year-old Mykhailo needs help to continue the rehabilitation that is vital for his development. He has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and cataracts in both eyes. Because of these conditions, he cannot sit, stand, walk, or eat independently. Regular rehabilitation gives him a chance to develop new skills, become more independent, and move closer to his biggest dream – taking his first steps. His family is doing everything possible to support his treatment, but the cost of rehabilitation and medical care is beyond their financial means.
Mykhailo was born at full term, and nothing seemed to indicate any problems. However, shortly after birth, he was admitted to intensive care due to hypoxia and severe jaundice. He spent two weeks in intensive care and another two weeks in the hospital gaining weight. His parents hoped the worst was behind them, but when Mykhailo was eight months old, a severe illness led to examinations that revealed a devastating diagnosis: cerebral palsy.
The diagnosis was especially heartbreaking because before that, Mykhailo had already started standing on his feet and trying to walk with support. After the illness, he lost many of the skills he had begun to develop. His family's life changed completely. At the age of one and a half, he began regular rehabilitation, physical therapy, and massage sessions. Thanks to the dedication of specialists and his parents, he gradually achieved small but meaningful improvements.
At the age of two and a half, the family faced another challenge when Mykhailo began having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. Rehabilitation had to be temporarily stopped while doctors stabilized his condition and adjusted his medication. Only after the seizures were brought under control could he return to therapy.
Today, Mykhailo continues fighting for his future. In addition to rehabilitation, he requires ongoing ophthalmological care because of cataracts in both eyes. His family regularly travels for consultations and examinations, which creates additional financial strain. In 2025, another diagnosis was added to his medical challenges – bronchial asthma caused by severe allergies.
Despite everything, Mykhailo remains a cheerful and loving little boy. His mother dreams of hearing his first words, seeing his first independent steps, and giving him the opportunity to explore the world more fully. The family can no longer manage the growing costs on their own. By supporting this project, you can help Mykhailo continue his rehabilitation journey and give him a better chance for a brighter future.
