Recovery for mom!

Eva is a refugee from combat operations area, a person with group 1 A disability (diagnosis of cerebral palsy) and the mother of two wonderful children. In 2007 she got married and gave birth to a child. But in 2014 the family life turned over, the war started. There were combat actions in her hometown, Makiivka. Eva, her mother, son and husband hid in the basements from shooting and explosions. They survived a real horror. Then their family was moved to Odesa by volunteers. Here, in 2018, Eva had a daughter, Alesia. Despite all the circumstances, Eva is a very lively person, but the disease makes itself felt – because of the strong spasticity of arms and legs Eva can hardly move, she has a speech disorder and requires a rehabilitation treatment.

Eva was the only child in the family, her mother raised her alone, her father died. She studied at the specialized asylum for children with cerebral palsy. Now she has the permanent group 1 A disability. Eva can walk on her own, however her walk is unbalanced, on the tips of toes, she often falls, requires support, sometimes she has pain in muscles. She also has many secondary diagnoses. Before the war, Eva has regularly received rehabilitation treatment of her main diagnosis. After war such treatment became impossible for Eva due to the refugee settlement and financial difficulties connected with this. However, her state deteriorates greatly without the therapy – she suffers from headaches, arm and leg weakness, she has difficulties when moving and walking.

Koziavkin Clinic in Truskavets city is ready to admit Eva for the rehabilitation in April 2020, however, the treatment course costs 19,900 UAH. This is an impracticable amount for Eva’s family, her husband is a disabled person too, they live for disability pension. Refugee allowance is hardly enough to pay for public utilities, school expenses for the son, the Internet, mobile connection, expensive medicines, diapers for little Alesia. We ask you to support this family and help Eva have a rehabilitation course!
