Mark is only 10 years old. He should be playing carefree with his friends, discovering the world, dreaming and making plans for the future. But a serious accident has changed his life forever. In an instant, his childhood turned into a daily struggle to be able to move, speak and be independent.
Following his injuries, Mark had to relearn the simplest skills almost from scratch. Every step, every movement, every word has been the result of gruelling hard work, endless sessions and tremendous willpower.
Despite everything he has been through, Mark has not lost hope. He trains diligently, carries out all the specialists’ tasks conscientiously and proves time and again that he is ready to fight for his future. His resilience and desire to recover impress even experienced rehabilitation specialists.
Previous rehabilitation courses at the ‘Agape Ukraine’ centre have yielded results that give the family hope. Mark has become more confident in his movements, can sustain sessions for longer, and copes better with everyday tasks. Notably, significant changes have occurred since the last course: the boy has made considerable improvements in his communication with others. Together with the specialists, they have managed to identify effective strategies that help him find the right words more quickly during conversations. Mark can now name objects after hearing their description with prompts. His cognitive functions have also improved noticeably, particularly his attention span, which is an important step on the road to recovery.
But the struggle continues. Mark’s right arm still functions with limitations; he needs support when walking, and his speech requires further intensive work with specialists. Stopping his rehabilitation now would mean losing precious time and jeopardising the progress he has already made.
The next course of rehabilitation costs 85 500 hryvnias. For a family that has been fighting for their son’s health for so long, this sum is beyond their means.
Every donation is more than just financial support. It is an opportunity for 10-year-old Mark to take another confident step, to say another word without difficulty, to become a little more independent, and to get closer to the life every child dreams of.
Let’s give Mark the chance to continue his rehabilitation. Together, we can help him regain a childhood filled with more joy than struggle.
