Save our father!

A horrible thing happened in summer 2017 that turned the life of the Antonovs upside down. It is almost 3 years since a wonderful husband and a father of 2 little girls Lavrentii broke his neck and was completely paralyzed as a result of the trauma. Doctors did not give any forecasts. A long way of rehabilitation that is still lasting, was started after the surgery on replacement of comminuted vertebra in the neck.

For this time, Lavrentii received treatment and rehabilitation at Nodus private center during half a year, one month at Guta rehabilitation center in Zaporizhzhia, and visited Kharkiv City Research Institute three times. He continues independent exercises at home with a rehabilitation therapist and visits Motus physical rehabilitation center in Odesa.

All this gives positive results and changes to better in regards of Lavretii’s health. He used to be a bed patient doctors gave no chances to even be able of sitting , now he advanced to the condition, when he can use his hands, shoulders, back, press, he can eat and drink independently, actively moves in a wheelchair. But the main thing is that he made his first steps in orthoses with high walkers! It took him three long years and huge financial expenses, but the results are worth it!

The family believes that this is not the limit of his abilities! They really want to make their husband and father walk and they believe that this day will surely come. For this he needs to visit rehabilitation courses all the time and this always requires lots of money. Besides, he has to take medicines from spasticity, he suffers a lot from it. Functions of internal organs have not recovered yet and he always requires hygiene products.
The family really hopes that kind and caring people can support them and help to bring Lavrentii’s dream of recovering and walking independently to life! For this, constant rehabilitations are required. We open fund raising for the next 6 month at Motus rehabilitation center, which costs UAH 90,000.00!

Diagnosis: spinal cord injury, comminuted fracture of the C5 vertebral body, contusion of the spinal cord, postoperative condition: anterior corporodesis C5 with a sliding graft (06.07.17), Upper paraparesis, lower paraplegia, dysfunction of the pelvic organs according to the central type
