Save the heart of Mariya Artykulnaya

One-year-old Maria from the Khorol city, Poltava region, needs your help.

The baby has a congenital heart defect – an open arterial duct, initial dilatation of the left heart. Her heart needs an implant. Without your help, Mariya's life is in danger. The girl urgently needs an endovascular surgery to install a heart implant – an occluder. The Amosov Institute doctors will perform the surgery free of charge, but the implant itself needs to be purchased, which the girl's parents simply do not have the money for. We ask you to save this girl's life!

Mariya was born with pneumonia, which was complicated by respiratory failure, moderate pulmonary hypertension of the newborn and hypoxic-ischemic damage to the central nervous system. A few hours after the birth, the girl was taken to the intensive care unit in the regional center. She stayed in Poltava for six months, where, thanks to the professional actions of doctors, the disease was overcome. During numerous examinations, it was found that Maria had an open arterial duct. At first, there was hope that it would close on its own, but unfortunately, this did not happen.

Later, the child began to get tired quickly, a heart murmur was detected and she was referred to a cardiologist for a consultation. Doctors from the Amosov Institute examined Mariya and said that she needed an endovascular closure operation, which, fortunately, is performed without surgery. However, to correct the defect, an implant is needed.  

The family cannot afford it on their own. And the treatment cannot be delayed, because this defect can lead to an increase in the load on the heart, as well as cause frequent lung diseases (and after suffering pneumonia from the first day of life, it is very dangerous).
