Safe children's veins
Children’s tears. Tears of pain. There are hardly any people in the world who are insensible to such tears. Almost everyone in their life has faced the fact that, for health reasons, it is necessary to take an infusion or get an injection. Antibiotics in bacteria, detox in poisoning, finally, bleeding in accidents, operations, etc. Anyone who has done this remembers how their hands ached after infusion into a vein, how
their veins burned after antibiotics, and how difficult it was to get rid of the bruises that remained on their hands after medical procedures.
And now imagine that the treatment lasts not a day, not ten days (on average), but six months. Year. Two. And at this time, on average, you are administered 2-3 medicines every day. “On average” this is because there are the rest days, and there are the times when you need to take 10 medicines a day. And imagine that this is not an adult’s veins and not an adult’s perception, but a small child of 2 weeks of age. That the child has cancer and he/she must be treated with all these burning and painful drugs…
To solve these problems, Broviac catheter was invented – the intravenous subclavian catheter, through which you can administer everything from saline and the most severe chemicals to blood and its components. The whole point of such catheters is that they are inserted for a year and more. This means that children’s veins are saved, that babies and older children will not be hurt
when nurses will take regular venous blood samples for analysis, and that such a terrible thing as chemotherapy will be at least a little easier…
It would seem that the issue is solved. But not the financial one.The main aspect of such painless treatment is money. For an average family, this is big money. Today, the cost of one catheter is UAH 5 112. For an average family, this is at least half of the monthly family budget. And if in this family the child is treated for oncohematological disease, then the purchase of such a catheter becomes
generally impossible and unavailable!
The Children’s Oncohematological Department in Poltava asks for assistance to buy Broviac catheters for its patients! For babies who are in such pain and scared from constant injections. The budget does not provide the purchase of these consumable materials. Everything falls on the shoulders of parents and kind people!
Let’s all help to treat children without pain and tears together!
