Varvara Kharchenko underwent surgery

Little Varvara Kharchenko is only 2 years old, but her life is already full of challenges. The girl was born with Down syndrome, and later doctors diagnosed her with an open arterial duct and mild pulmonary hypertension. The only chance for a healthy future for Varvara is an urgent surgery, which requires significant financial costs. Her mother, Maria, is raising three children on her own and is unable to work, as she devotes all her time to caring for her youngest daughter. The state provides assistance, but the amount of payments of just over UAH 5,000 per month barely covers the family's basic needs.

‘I only dream of one thing - that Varvara is healthy and has a chance for a happy life,’ says Maria.

The family appeals to those who care to help raise funds for the purchase of an IUD and the surgery that will give little Varya a healthy future.

Thanks to the benefactors of the Saving Lives of 8 Children project, they managed to raise funds for the girl's occluder, which cost 134 071 hryvnias. On 17 December, Vara underwent endovascular surgery.

Mum Maria and little Varvara are sincerely grateful to everyone who contributed to this good cause! We wish the girl good health and to overcome all life's challenges with ease!
