On 1 May 2024, Vitalina Salivonchyk, born in 2023, from Vinnytsia region, underwent surgery.

Vitalina is just over a year old. She is from a small village in Volodymyrivka, Vinnytsia region.

The girl was born prematurely, but until she was a year old, she had no complaints about her health. In March, Vitalina fell ill with pneumonia. She began to have a severe cough and shortness of breath.  After an examination, the child was diagnosed with a heart murmur. At the Children's Regional Hospital in Vinnytsia, a cardiologist diagnosed an open arterial duct and referred her for a consultation at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. After undergoing an examination at the Amosov Institute, the diagnosis was confirmed and a decision was made to perform heart surgery to repair the defect.

Before the war, Vitalina's father worked as a baker of sweets.  He has been defending Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Her mother takes care of two daughters, and Vitalina has an older sister. The family budget is small, but despite this, they try to systematically help the military unit where their father serves. Now the family of the soldier needs help themselves, as they have no financial means to quickly raise funds for a heart implant, and the operation needs to be carried out as soon as possible.

On 01 May 2024, Vitalina underwent surgery to close the patent ductus arteriosus. The occluder for the operation was purchased thanks to Sabina's ‘Everything is in Your Hands’ project.

We sincerely thank Sabina for the collection that saves hearts and everyone who joined the charity initiative!
