Maxym was born and grew up a healthy and active boy. He was well known for his huge blue eyes and playfulness. On the 3rd of May in 2019, everything changed. Having fun at the local playground, the boy fell from a low slide landing on his head. Maxim had a severe head injury. Since then, his parents and doctors have been fighting for his life.
Immediately after the tragedy, Maxym was taken to the intensive children care unit of the Regional Hospital in Odesa, Ukraine. On their way, the boy lost his consciousness. He underwent emergency surgery and hematoma removal from the right hemisphere of his brain. A few days later, Maxym regained consciousness and recognized his parents but remained silent. He had a left-sided paralysis. The condition worsened at night of May 12-13: there was a repeated hemorrhage, a cardiac and respiratory arrest. A repeated operation was performed and the hematoma was removed from the left hemisphere. At present, he is in a vegetative state and required tracheostomy to survive.
His parents have used all their time and resources to help Maxym but without serious full-fledged neurorehabilitation, it is impossible for Maxim to survive. After searching for the right place to undergo the treatment, his parents chose the neurorehabilitation center in NODUS in Brovary. There are no alternatives in Ukraine for this amount of money. Clinical specialists, visiting Maxym, confirmed their willingness to help.
Currently, Maxym has been transferred to the NODUS clinic. He is undergoing his rehabilitation treatment there. There are already a few good results achieved. But there is still a long way to recovery ahead. Maxim's parents do not live together, but both of them are actively involved in saving his son's life. Both parents seek help from caring people. We never know what life brings. We only know that now the tragedy has taken place and ask you to help this boy to become an active and happy child again.
Please, help Maxym!
