Loose beds with metal meshes base bunks which are bowed to the floor – familiar picture, isn’t it? It is a usual horror of the national hospitals. It is time to leave them in the past, agree? Cost of one new bed, comfortable, clean, and safe is1850 UAH. In the Pulmonology Department of Kharkiv regional children hospital, there are children with both serious diseases of the respiratory organs and diseases like anginas and pneumonia. Any disease is cured quicker when the conditions are comfortable.

In general, the department is designed for 30 beds, the larger half of them is already renewed by the hospital management and concerned people. Though, there are still 3 wards where families regularly coming for treatment try not to go… Nobody wants the back pain after sleep… Nobody wants not to sleep for a half of night because however, you lay either spring squeezes your body side or hardened mass of cotton-wool of the old mattress…

Such minor things waste you away and play on the disease side making the time of hospitalization longer. And if some patients come to these departments being sick with angina or pneumonia only once, many children with serious disease of the respiratory organs and rare diseases stay here for months…

Now we would like to renew two wards. New beds having robust metal structure, polyurethane foam mattresses with special bed pads easy to disinfect and comfortable for the patients. We think that it is time to old beds and mattresses to be in the dump. Children and their mothers should have adequate conditions of treatment, especially that this change cost is comparatively low. We also want to buy new pillows, bed linens, bedspreads, and towels. Let’s do it! It is worth doing.
