Let's save the lives of children with cancer!

Sumy Regional Children's Clinical Hospital* is the only institution in the region that provides primary, specialized and highly specialized medical care services for children under 18 years of age. About 12,000 children from the region and the city of Sumy receive inpatient treatment every year.

The hospital is located in a front-line region that suffers from constant shelling, but it never stopped supporting local children for a single day. Currently, about 10 children with cancer are undergoing therapy at the hospital. As part of the project, we plan to provide the institution with a venous scanner, as well as an incubator for blood platelets and a platelet shaker (for 48 containers).

There is no venous scanner in the hospital at all, this equipment helps to choose the appropriate vein for venipuncture, it is a very responsible process, even nurses with great experience do not always manage to perform this procedure. Choosing the wrong vein creates discomfort and can lead to more serious complications, up to the development of tissue necrosis.

According to the rules of storage of blood platelets, it is necessary to use special equipment to maintain the required temperature and constant stirring. Platelet shakers with an incubator are used for this. In this equipment, the platelet concentrate can be stored for up to 5 days. This is a specially prepared substance made from platelets, which is used in cases where platelets in children drop to a critical level after chemotherapy. Then the necessary manipulation is the transfusion of a blood clot. Unfortunately, this is a common side effect of chemotherapy, so it is important that the platelet concentrate is stored under appropriate conditions to save the child's life. To prevent the concentrate from spoiling, it must be constantly stirred. The equipment is also designed to store vaccines, blood plasma and other biological materials.
