Let's save the lives of children with cancer!

In September 2023, the project “Let's save the lives of children with cancer!” was posted on the dobro.ua website, the purpose of which was to raise funds for the purchase of medical equipment for the Sumy Regional Children's Clinical Hospital for a total amount of UAH 627,000.00.

In early October 2023, due to the hospital's urgent need for a venous scanner, we withdrew the collected amount of UAH 107,000.00 for partial implementation of the project. The hospital received the equipment on October 9, 2023.

Fundraising continued, as the list of necessary items also included an incubator for blood platelets and a platelet shaker.

In January 2025, we requested to use part of the collected amount of 21580.00 hryvnias for the purchase of a personal vortex and consumables for it, since the necessary amount for the purchase of the planned platelet incubator was not collected for a long time. Therefore, the fundraising was stopped, and the target amount was reduced to the actually collected amount, namely 129197.00 hryvnias. The necessary amount of 21580.00 00 hryvnias was transferred to our fund's account. The equipment was transferred to the hospital on February 3, 2025.

Sumy Regional Children's Clinical Hospital is the only institution in the region that provides primary, specialized and highly specialized medical care services to children under 18 years of age. About 12 thousand children of the region and the city of Sumy receive inpatient treatment annually.

The hospital is located in a frontline region that suffers from constant shelling, but it has never stopped accepting local children for a day. The institution's oncology department has about 10 children on a regular basis.

There was no venous scanner in the hospital at all, but it is very important during the treatment process, because it helps to choose the right vein for venipuncture, which is a very responsible process. Choosing the wrong vein creates discomfort and can lead to more serious complications, up to the development of tissue necrosis. The donated V-1 vortex is used daily for mixing blood platelets and other components, processing bone marrow samples, mixing cell suspensions obtained from biopsies, etc. This equipment is needed in the hospital department, since it is in this department that there is a shortage.

Please dispose of the remaining funds in the amount of 617.00 hryvnias in accordance with the Rules, Principles and Procedures of the Medical Fund "MBF "UBB", since it cannot be used for its intended purpose.
