Battling Cancer! 2

Dear Donors, you have already assisted archpriest Ioan whose diagnosis in 2014 was parotid salivary gland cancer. The Father Ioan does not cease to surprise doctors, the congregation and everybody who knows him. It seems that life is just incompatible with such a diagnosis, repeated recurrences, many operations, numerous chemotherapy courses that are deadening for the organism and metastases in the lungs. His attending doctor is shaken; he says that never saw such case in his practice. Treatment, belief in God, God’s grace and the will to live to conquer death. 

The current situation is that Father Ioan has no tumor, there is no previous diagnosis, the metastases in the lungs are not active and do not grow. However, the Father breathes with difficulty because after many operations his lungs are massively smaller than those of a common man. So that Father Ioan can breathe normally, he needs just about 5% of lungs. To achieve this end, it is necessary to remove these metastases from his lungs that preclude recovering his breath. Should it be done, the metastases will never become active and start to grow, and, secondly, it will restore this 5 % of the air that makes him gasp. Certainly, the Father will not be able to run and lead an active life but he will be able to continue his preaching, building of the church, praying and helping people.

Father Ioan has been prescribed a new treatment regimen with Topotecam (Hykamtin) – this is a precision chemotherapy directed at the places where metastases are present. Such method of precise point-like chemotherapy is immensely effective. However, such treatment is very expensive. The cost of 5 courses with the use of this medicine is UAH 90,060. The family is just "squeezed" out of money. Until now the relatives and friends of the sick man assisted as to the best of their abilities. Participation of not indifferent people – that is the only chance for Father Ioan to conquer the disease. Please, help the priest!
