A healthy back for Mariika

Mariika is 7 years old. She studies in the second grade, loves mathematics, and attends an art club. Mariika is a calm and shy girl who adores summer, kittens, and walks with friends. On the outside, she lives an ordinary childhood, but since birth she has been fighting a serious illness.

Mariika was diagnosed with scoliosis at birth, and as she has grown older, the condition has begun to progress rapidly. Conservative treatment – physical therapy and wearing a brace – has not brought the expected results. Her spine continues to deform, creating a risk of damage to internal organs and potentially leading to severe complications in the future.

Doctors recommend surgical intervention with the installation of special implants to stabilize the spine. Mariika has already undergone all the necessary examinations and preparations. The medical facility is ready to perform the surgery as soon as possible.
The only obstacle is the cost of the implants, which are not covered by the state.

To perform the surgery, implants costing 276,600 UAH must be purchased. Part of the funds for the set of implants has already been raised, and as part of the project on dobro.ua, we are we are raising the rest of the necessary amount – 138,600 UAH.

Mariika’s mother is unable to raise such funds on her own, as she is raising three daughters by herself, two of whom have disabilities, and is also caring for her seriously ill mother.

Without surgery, scoliosis will continue to progress, which may lead to chronic pain, dysfunction of internal organs, limited mobility and disability in adulthood.

Timely surgical treatment gives a chance to stop the progression of the disease and restore Mariika’s ability to grow and develop without pain or limitations.

Every contribution, regardless of the amount, brings Mariika closer to surgery and a healthy future. Thanks to your support, children with similar diagnoses have already been able to return to a full life.
