UPD: unfortunately, Maryna died. The disease was stronger. The UBB team brings our sincere words of condolences to the woman's family and thanks to everyone who supported Maryna. Dear Donors! A disaster occurred in the Revkovs family. The mother Maryna was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer. The woman bravely struggles with this oncologic disease for a year and a half. In November 2017 she had a radical mastectomy, the left breast was removed and 4 courses of chemotherapy were administered. Everything was good for some time and it seemed that the disease was stopped. However, in three months the doctors found out metastases in lungs and liver.

Another six chemotherapy courses were administered in parallel with Herceptin (Trastumab) therapy. For half a year Maryna was almost bed-bound, she could not get up, walk and some cardiac problems emerged.

Still, it was not a single trial. Small Sergiyko, a son of Maryna and her husband Sergiy, has psychoverbal developmental disorder. He has diagnosed an abnormality of fine movements, speech delay, and high cranial pressure which results in neuroses and breakdowns from time to time. The mother put a lot of efforts to stabilize Sergiyko’s condition and improve his development so that he could be on the same level with his age mates. She took him to the development center, speech therapist; he got several massage courses and medication was also administered.

However, now the family could not cope financially with further treatment of two family members. Sergiyko’s father also has a disability but he must work almost all day round so as to support the family and provide for treatment of his son and wife. Now the neurologist administered yet another medication course and Maryna was prescribed chemotherapy pills which cost a lot of money. Also, she was advised to continue treatment with Herceptin which is given, in part, in accordance with the state program provided it is available with the clinic but the missing quantity is to be purchased independently.
