Healthy vision for children!
The Department of Children's Ophthalmology and Microsurgery of the "Okhmatdyt"* hospital needs a portable autokerator refractometer.
This device is necessary for determining refraction. Refraction is the ability of the organs of vision to refract light rays for better visibility of the object that a person is looking at. When we observe an object, the light flux is focused on the retina to provide a clear image. If the refraction function of light rays is broken, a person cannot see objects clearly. Early detection and treatment of refractive pathology will lead to a reduction in disability among children.
Refractive pathology is the most common childhood pathology among ophthalmological diseases. The available devices in the hospital department are bulky and difficult to use for young children, as well as physically difficult children and for examining a child during anesthesia.
In the conditions of the economic crisis and martial law, the institution has no opportunity to purchase such property, so the administration asked for help.
The department treats children with ophthalmological diseases, including eye injuries, from all regions of Ukraine. Doctors in the department diagnose and treat complex and rare eye diseases in children from 0 to 18 years old, which are not treated in other institutions of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
On average, about 1,000 children pass through the department per month, in 98-99% of cases, an autokerator refractometer is used, and in 50%, a portable device is required.
Your generous contribution will help provide children with high-quality medical diagnosis and timely help.
*Full name of the hospital: National children's specialized hospital "OKHMATDYT" of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
