Warm the baby

Every tenth child is born prematurely. A premature baby needs special attention and care from both doctors and parents; specialized equipment and modern approaches to treatment

A newborn baby in a hurry needs extra warmth and careful control of body temperature. One of the risks is hypothermia, as the body is unable to maintain body temperature in a hurry (the brain is not yet able to regulate and maintain body temperature), as well as insufficient subcutaneous fat. Hypothermia in such children can lead to metabolic disorders and contribute to the development of respiratory disorders and inflammation.

It is to prevent such processes that doctors use specialized heated mattresses.

According to regulatory requirements, the ward where premature babies are cared for must be equipped with 50% of the total number of places with such warm mattresses. But, unfortunately, in practice, there is a branch in Ukraine where there is no such mattress.

Therefore, for the International Day of the Premature Baby, which the whole world celebrates on November 17, our foundation is initiating the project "Warm the baby", in which we plan to purchase 8 specialized heated mattresses and transfer them to:

- KNP "Mariupol Territorial Medical Association of Child and Women's Health";
- KNP "Maternity hospital №2" of the Odessa city council;
- KNP "Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Perinatal Center";
- KNP "Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital".

This equipment will help in the care of about 500 babies a year.
