Stop the rare disease! 2

Dear donors, you have already supported Lerochka Malyshko. Unfortunately, the girl needs support on a permanent basis. Her routine is “Hospital – Home – Hospital” – that is the reality for the young girl. She suffers from profound congenital X-factor deficiency of blood clotting, in other words, hemophilia is her diagnosis. That is the disease accompanied by frequent continuous uncontrolled bleedings that constitute life-threatening situation. Commonly this disease occurs mainly with men but Lera has a rare “girl’s form” – she is the only patient in Ukraine who has such a diagnosis.

To sustain her life, the girl needs an expensive medication Octaplex – two ampoules per month – the cost of one ampoule is UAH 12 641.

Lerochka studies at the Academy of Food Technology, she is 20 and her life just begins. Usually students lead a glittering and eventful life full of new acquaintances, hobbies and plans for future. However, it is not the case with Lera. Her life quality directly depends on the availability of Octaplex. In the absence of this medication the girl is urgently hospitalized in a regional or district once in a month or month and a half because of bleeding. She faints, her blood and arterial pressure indices decrease sharply. Doctors assess her state at the time as one of moderate severity. When Lera discharges from the hospital she always knows that quite soon she will come back there if no Octaplex is available.

Disease severity is determined by the physiological processes of a female organism. These processes can be controlled by the presence of X-factor in blood, the factor that ensures blood clotting. Lera dreams about full-fledged life, the life without hospital wards and infusion drips, without pain, collapses and bleeding that threatens her life. However, the family has no means to purchase such an expensive medication without help. That is why we apply to all of you who wish and are able to assist the young girl and give her a chance to lead a healthy life worth living!
