The illness in his body is immediately given out by blue lips and fingers, and also by constant fatigue. 11-month-old Pavlusha mostly sleeps, because he doesn't even have enough strength to play with his sisters. The reason is a congenital and deadly heart disease - Tetralogy of Fallot.
There are four shortcomings in the boy's small heart at once: the pulmonary artery valve is narrowed, the aorta is displaced, the right ventricle is hypertrophied, and between it and the left ventricle there is a hole through which blood is mixed. Half of the children born with the Tetrad of Fallot do not live to be 5 years old.
Pavlik was diagnosed with the disease in the 27th week of his mother's pregnancy. The doctors said: the child will not live. Mom Julia does not even understand how she survived that moment – then she sat on the hospital stairs for more than an hour, choking with tears... Fortunately, the family turned to the AMOSOV National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery on time, where the tiny ones under the heart finally give a chance. After his birth, they agree to operate on him.
Pavlik is one of five thousand children who are born annually in Ukraine with heart defects. Unfortunately, due to the lack of proper diagnostics or the ability to have surgery on time, more than 800 of them die. Those who are lucky, like Pavel, end up in the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after M.M. AMOSOV. This is exactly the place where children with congenital heart defects have a chance to be saved.
Every year, 10-12 thousand young patients from all over Ukraine are examined at the medical facility, and 700-750 are then operated on. These are children who get their chance. However, unfortunately, the equipment is literally a guarantee of salvation, it constantly wears out, and because of critical underfunding, the institution is not able to buy expensive equipment on its own. Now there is an urgent need to purchase modern equipment for the children's operating room. These are the Leon Plus anesthesia machine (made by Lowenstein, Germany), the patient's condition monitor CSM-1901 Pro (made by Nihon Kohden, Japan) and the bedside patient monitor CSM-1502 Pro (made by Nihon Kohden, Japan). With this equipment, it will be easier for doctors to monitor the vital functions of young patients, and therefore, the risks to their lives will decrease.
Pavel's life during the operation, which took place the day before, depended on the devices. It is still dependent, the child is still in intensive care, Does not breathe on its own, every beat of his heart is recorded by a monitor, next to the bed there are tiers of droppers and sensors. Not as modern as we would like, a few "worn out", but uniform, which make it possible to grab hold of life.
Children should not die from diseases that can be cured! Let's buy quality equipment to keep children's hearts fighting. We can do it!
The project is being assembled within the framework of the project "The Road of Good - Little Miracles are Available to Everyone".
