The top 5 news on the platform. May.

We continue to share a selection of news that takes place on the dobro.ua platform.

Every good deed is another step towards a happy future for many people. And you can see for yourself in our May news about completed projects. This time, we will also share news about projects that are still partially implemented to show how much effort and work our incredible help operators - charitable foundations - put in to support those in need.

Project ‘Easter miracle for the elderly 2024’, CF "Caritas-Kyiv"

Recently, together with Caritas Kyiv, we raised funds to buy food for an Easter basket for the elderly.  Thanks to their big hearts, our benefactors gave an Easter miracle to 50 elderly people.

On 26 April, the Foundation purchased food worth UAH 221 thousand. What did we treat them to for Easter? Easter cake, sausage, cheese, butter and eggs. The Foundation's social workers delivered the food to the homes of the elderly in a timely manner, and together with the Easter baskets, they brought the care and warmth of our benefactors' hearts.

Project  "Books in Braille: I want and I can read!", LOO VGO USI

We can't help but tell you about the implementation of this special project aimed at supporting children with visual impairments. Thanks to the Ukrainian Union of People with Disabilities-USI, which helps children with visual impairments throughout Ukraine, the first stage of the Braille Books: I Want and Can Read project has been implemented. To bring more joy to blind children, dobro.ua philanthropists have raised UAH 610 thousand to publish new books.

Special Braille paper, thermal paper for printing relief drawings and book covers have already been purchased, and work has begun on printing the first 2 books in Braille. Each book has a special QR code that allows children to listen to the audio on their phones. The books are narrated by professional actors together with blind children who personally come to the recording studio in Lviv.

Project ‘Children's Hope: Helping children with burns. Cryosurgical apparatus", dobro.ua

Together with Kyivstar, we continue to implement the charity programme ‘Helping Children with Burns’. As part of the initiative, on 14 May 2024, a Cryo-S Painless cryosurgical apparatus was handed over to St Nicholas Hospital of the 1st Territorial Medical Association of Lviv. This is a high-tech device that allows for temporary freezing of peripheral nerves during surgery and avoids pain in the postoperative period. The equipment was purchased with the help of a second charitable grant of UAH 10 million from Kyivstar. The cost of the equipment is UAH 899 thousand.

Project ‘Recover and Win’, Zaporuka Foundation

Yaryna is from Donetsk region. She was an active sportswoman and dreamed of representing Ukraine at international running competitions. But all her plans were ruined by the disease Ewing's sarcoma. The tumour affected her shoulder and arm, restraining her movement and putting her favourite sport on hold. The girl needed to replace the affected shoulder bone with an endoprosthesis. The donors of the dobro.ua platform helped to raise UAH 133,750.  At the end of February, the Zaporuka Foundation paid for the endoprosthesis and in early March Yaryna underwent an urgent surgery.
Now Yaryna is successfully undergoing physical rehabilitation. Thanks to regular exercises, sensitivity is gradually returning to her arm.

We believe that Yaryna will soon be able to return to her favourite sport and represent Ukraine at international competitions.

The project ‘Let's feed animals in shelters on the border!’, Happy Paw Charity Foundation

On 16 April, as part of the first part of the project ‘Let's Feed Animals in Border Shelters!’, Happy Paw Charity Foundation purchased and sent 112 bags (1680 kg) of food to shelters located in the frontline regions of Donetsk, Sumy, Zhytomyr and Zaporizhzhia.

A large number of animals evacuated from the war zone are still in shelters in Mykolaiv and Odesa oblasts, which also need help. The project has been partially implemented. You can still get involved and help.  You know that pet food has one superpower: it disappears at the speed of light. So don't forget about the four-legged friends, they really need your love and help.
