Defender returns to the front with prosthesis

Another bionic arm prosthesis at the UNBROKEN Centre! It was fitted to a defender who is planning to return to the Armed Forces of Ukraine after rehabilitation.

The patient is a 42-year-old Lviv resident. In the first days of the great war, the man voluntarily joined the Defence Forces and became a scout. Given the peculiarities of his service and plans to continue it, the patient asked not to disclose his name and face.

Last year in May, he was performing a combat mission behind enemy lines when he stepped on a mine and exploded. "The guys say they brought me back from the dead. I don't remember anything, I immediately lost consciousness," the defender says. He lost his right hand as a result of a severe mine-blast injury. Shrapnel also damaged the soldier's lungs, head and shoulder.

The defender has undergone more than 20 operations in various hospitals in Ukraine. The scout came to Lviv - to the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Centre - for prosthetics and rehabilitation. He needs a highly functional artificial limb. He said: "I need the prosthesis not only to perform everyday tasks, but also to return to the army and share my experience with others.
To enable the scout to return to service, we raised funds for a bionic arm for him within a joint project with the dobro.ua charity platform called Prostheses for the Unbreakable.

The patient has already received this high-tech limb and is learning to use it. After mastering the prosthesis and completing his rehabilitation, the unbreakable defender is eager to return to duty. If not to fight, then at least to share his combat experience with other soldiers.

Fundraising for bionic prosthetic arms for defenders continues. Anyone can make a contribution to the best possible prosthetics for our soldiers.
