Ivan is 11 years old. This is the age when children dream, learn, play with friends, and make plans for the future. But for Ivan, childhood has long been a constant struggle for life.
At an early age, the boy suffered a brain hemorrhage. As a result, he developed occlusive post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus, a condition in which cerebrospinal fluid cannot drain normally and begins to press on the brain. This pressure is dangerous: it can lead to severe pain, loss of consciousness, seizures, movement disorders, and even be life-threatening.
Over the years, Ivan has undergone numerous operations to install and replace shunt systems designed to drain excess fluid from his brain. Unfortunately, shunts are not permanent. They can malfunction, become infected, or become blocked. The boy has been diagnosed with ventricular catheter dysfunction, which means that the system no longer works.
Ivan's condition is deteriorating. To save his brain, neurosurgical intervention using modern technology is necessary.
Time plays a crucial role in this story. Every day without treatment is a risk of irreversible brain damage. But at the same time, every bit of help is a real chance for Ivan to live without constant pain, to learn, grow, and dream again.
We appeal to all caring people: please support Ivan. Your help is a step towards saving a child's life. Together, we can give this boy a chance for a future.
