Little Adelinka was born severely premature and from the very first seconds of her life began a fight that even an adult would find hard to imagine. She now needs our help to complete the rehabilitation course she requires and to start moving freely.

Adelinka was initially diagnosed with grade 4 intraventricular hemorrhage, sepsis, meningitis, hydrocephalus, and strabismus. She underwent 4 complex brain surgeries: placement of an Ommaya reservoir, several shunting procedures, and external drainage following shunt infection with staphylococcus.

For the first 3 months of her life, the girl could not breathe independently, suffered from severe seizures, was fed through a tube, and could not crawl, stand, or walk. Later, additional diagnoses were added: ataxic cerebral palsy (caused by damage to the cerebellum or the brain's conductive pathways), neurodevelopmental delay, and underdevelopment of the expressive-receptive speech component. Adelina requires constant care from her mother and regular rehabilitation.

Adelinka is now 2 years old. She can already sit independently, crawl, stand at a support, move sideways along a support, and even take a few independent steps – though fully independent walking is not yet there. She picks up, holds, and transfers toys, brings them to her mouth, can already imitate animal sounds, repeat movements, and partially follow instructions.

Friends, we are opening a fundraiser for a new rehabilitation course that will give Adelinka the chance to become more independent. Every hryvnia is hope for her parents and a chance at a full childhood for this little girl.
