The family had been waiting for Sofia's birth for over 10 years: she was a long-awaited child in the family. For the woman, this was the culmination of her hopes and expectations, a realization of the value of motherhood. A year later, Sofia had a little brother. On the eve of this, her father left the family, leaving her without support or help. Sofia started going to kindergarten and was an active, talented, and skilled kid.
But just before she started school, her behavior started to change – she became distracted, had trouble remembering things, and suddenly started losing weight. Her mom got worried. The doctor's diagnosis sounded like a death sentence: "diabetes mellitus". Hospitals, constant finger pricks to measure sugar levels, and insulin injections became unbearable, but everyone understood that each of these actions was giving life to the little girl.
Within a month, the girl and her mother had partially gotten used to the injections, and no matter how difficult it was for the woman, she had to return to work, leaving the girl with her grandmother. They worked out a plan: the grandmother would set the number of units on the insulin pen, and the 6-year-old girl would inject herself subcutaneously. They admit that it was extremely difficult, both emotionally and psychologically.
After raising the funds, the woman bought the first sensor for continuous measurement of her child's blood sugar levels, and it turned out to be the right decision: there were fewer painful finger pricks, glucose levels were visible at a glance, and the mother was able to fully monitor the readings via her phone.
The girl is doing very well at school and enjoys drawing, cheerleading, gymnastics, karate, and swimming, and she has learned to combine all of these activities. This is actually very hard work, especially for a child with diabetes, but she loves an active life. Without monitoring, such an active life would be impossible for her. Sofiika really hopes for help; with sensors, she feels protected and confident. Please help this child in her fight for a full life.
