Arina, an 8-year-old girl from Kryvyi Rih, was diagnosed with diabetes five months ago. After being diagnosed and hospitalized in the intensive care unit, the girl is learning to live her life in a new way. Diet, insulin injections, and finger pricks to measure sugar up to 15 times a day. Before her illness, Arina was fond of drawing and dancing. She had to give up dancing because it is very difficult to control her sugar levels during physical activity. And sugar spikes can lead to undesirable effects on the girl's health.
Continuous glucose monitoring sensors can help make her life easier, but the family has no money for them. Arina is the third child of her parents. In addition to her, the family has two other minor children. Arina's father used to work at the Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant, but since March this year the company has been out of business, and the man is looking for a new job.
Arina attends primary school in a mixed learning format. The girl has friends at school and at home, she has brothers, but she does not have the most important thing - her health. It is always difficult to get used to living with diabetes in the early years, but the girl is trying to bravely resist fate. We ask those who care to help her in her treatment.
