Artem is an active, cheerful boy. He loves sports, movement, and walks with friends. Being around other children matters deeply to him – laughing, playing, and feeling the joy of childhood. He has a very kind heart. He loves animals and feels for every stray cat and dog. Artem genuinely loves his family – and especially his older brother, who is his role model and greatest authority. By his brother's side, he feels stronger and more confident.
Artem's health problems began with seizures a few months after birth, followed later by deteriorating vision. He is now 9 years old, and for almost two years, he and his family have been learning to live a new kind of life. Every day means counting carbohydrate units, constant blood sugar checks, insulin injections, and worry about how he is feeling. The illness came suddenly and without warning – type 1 diabetes.
Sadly, diabetes has no cure. The family can only hope that one day doctors will find a way to overcome it. Managing diabetes is enormously difficult. It means constant finger pricks that barely have time to heal, and the fear of dangerous blood sugar spikes during the night. Without continuous glucose monitoring sensors, it is especially hard. Sensors allow blood sugar levels to be seen in real time, enabling quick responses and helping to avoid dangerous situations. Even during ordinary play, blood sugar must be monitored constantly. His parents worry greatly whenever Artem is not nearby, as any physical activity or strong emotions can cause sharp changes in his levels.
For the family, sensors are not simply a convenience – they are their child's safety and their relative peace of mind.
Artem's vision has worsened, his legs often hurt, and he sometimes finds it hard to move around actively. It is painful for his parents to watch the illness limit him in moments where he should simply be enjoying life. The family wants Artem to grow up healthy, to develop, to pursue the things he loves, and not to feel different because of his illness. That is why they are asking for support for Artem – so that his childhood can be safer and brighter.
