Artur wants to go home

Two years ago Artur сouldn’t come for his regular checkup in time. The doctor’s prescription was strict but there was a war not far from the boy’s home boy… They just couldn’t reach the nearest hospital. When the boy was eventually examined it turned out that the tumor grew again. The boy was hospitalized at the Institute of Neurosurgery in Kyiv where he was urgently operated on. It seemed that the surgery was successful. However, after a few days he had complications.

Artur suffered from different symptoms. Months passed. It seemed that soon he would be able to come back home but he had to undergo a very expensive treatment course. His mother was in despair. For ten days of treatment the boy needs an amount that is higher than the family’s annual income.

First symptoms appeared when Artur went to the first grade. Then the boy complained of a headache. The parents took it as the boy’s whims. A year later Artur had an eye with a squint. The oculist sent them to the neurologist where the boy was diagnosed and a tumor was detected. He underwent a surgery. Afterwards Artur’s eyesight deteriorated but he didn’t need treatment. He had only to come for follow-up visits.

Artur didn’t have problems for two years. Then he couldn’t come for an exam because the war made it impossible to leave home. And now he is at war with the disease that does not allow the boy to return home.
