Granny's sunshine

This little sunshine is called Ksenia. She is only 1 year and 8 months old, but she was hospitalized at the pediatric oncology department for more than a year. Her treatment began immediately: the girl underwent 7 cycles of chemotherapy and a surgery to remove the tumor. Unfortunately, cancer treatment is often complicated by hepatitis. This "silent killer" did not spare a little girl. However, with constant supportive therapy the chances to life a full life are great. But the cost of this therapy is very high.

When all kids are starting to stand on their legs and try to make their first steps, little Ksenia couldn't do it. A large tumor which is located on the spine pressed on the nerve centers responsible for standing and walking. Having completed all the cycles of cancer treatment Ksenia began a new stage of her struggle for life and for her ability to walk. The treatment of hepatitis is very expensive and long, and it is impossible to recover. However, with constant supportive therapy the chances to live a full life are great.

Her family cannot buy medicines on their own. The family lives in the Donetsk blast where there are military operations. Her mother is on maternity leave, her father worked in the cole mine but it was destroyed and now it is impossible for him to find a new job. Her grandmother doesn’t receive pension for 5 months. Ksenia cannot even go to her mother and her mother cannot visit her daughter because there is no money to leave the city.

Ksenia stays with her grandmother who is occupied with her little granddaughter’s treatment and rehabilitation. In addition to treatment of hepatitis the grandmother continues bringing Ksenia to neurologists and rehabilitators because she doesn’t lose hope that the girl will walk. Everything requires a lot money and strength. Still she does everything to put Ksenia on her feet. Let’s help to do it.
