Safe transportation of displaced children

From the first days of the war, CF "Caritas SDD"  in Drohobych (Lviv region) sheltered dozens of children who experienced the horrors of war. Currently, we have 50 children from Kyiv, Borodyanka, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv aged from 2 to 16.

Accessibility of education is one of the key priorities of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The question of transporting children to the place of study is one of the important ones in this process. That is why the team of CF "Caritas SDD" is doing everything possible to create the necessary conditions for the safe and comfortable education of children of forcibly displaced persons who live in a shelter located 10 km from the city Drohobych.

In order to provide children with access to educational services, we turned to our partners, who gave us an 18-seat Mercedes Sprinter minibus. We did not wait for the issue of transporting children to be resolved at the state level. Every day, for a year, we used this vehicle to transport 50 children from the shelter to educational institutions, kindergartens and clubs. We are independently looking for funds for fuel and wages for two drivers.

Due to the fact that the minibus is not new, it had driven a large number of kilometers and could not withstand the load. The engine failed. Our organization cannot independently cover the costs of purchasing an engine and consumables.

So, as part of the project "Safe transportation of internally displaced children", we plan to raised the necessary amount of funds – UAH 50,000 for the purchase of an engine and consumables (gaskets, oils, filters, oil seals, etc.). This will enable us to provide regular, safe and free transportation of 50 children to educational institutions.

We want to appeal to everyone who cares about the fate of children! Help us ensure that internally displaced children's rights to education are realized. This is extremely important for the development of children, adolescents, young people and their opportunities in the future. Equal conditions of access to education are an important indicator of the integration of internally displaced persons into the host territorial communities.
