Charity Kurazh

Kyiv's meeting place, Courage, is returning to yours and our July with a new event. The second charity Kurazh will take place on 29-30 July at Garage in Podil.

As always, Courage will combine everything we love: long-awaited hugs with everyone we haven't seen for a long time, a handpicked flea market, music, important conversations and great good deeds, which are very easy to do at Courage.

This time, the Charity Courage has set itself two important good goals, which you can join by simply buying a ticket to the Courage or making a donation.

What will Courage raise this time:

1. We need to help purchase tactical medicine, which is purchased and delivered to combat medics by the Birds project, founded by volunteer Tata Kepler. Since 2014, Tata Kepler has been involved in medical aid to the military. During this time, a powerful resource has been created to further support the army and civilians thanks to the contributions of caring people. The main goal of the project is to help where doctors cannot reach, to save our comrades and bring victory closer. As part of the project, we aim to purchase and transfer tactical medicine supplies such as waist tourniquets, occlusive stickers and other medical equipment that help save lives.  The more money we raise, the more we can convert into saving lives.

2. Support is also needed for defenders who lost limbs in the war. The Superhumans Centre, an all-Ukrainian modern centre for prosthetics, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and psychological support for war-affected people, has two patients - Herman and Serhiy. It is necessary to raise money for modern prostheses that will return the defenders to their super abilities. They cost about 500 thousand hryvnias.

Herman, 32 years old

Before the full-scale invasion, he was a contract soldier, an ATO veteran. 4 months before the great war, Herman's contract expired and he planned to end his military career forever. But on the first day of the invasion, he volunteered for the front (Herman's mother and stepfather are also in the Armed Forces). He served in the Kharkiv sector and took part in the liberation of Kharkiv region. He was injured in December 2022, in the Liman direction, when he was hit by a tank. He received multiple injuries, but the most serious was to his arm. I immediately realised that I would have to have an amputation. He applied a tourniquet to his arm and evacuated from the battlefield himself. Now he is ready for prosthetics at Superhumans. After the prosthetics, he will return to service either as a military instructor or in a military office. He is also going to enter the military department at a university, as he now plans to pursue a military career. Along with his service, he dreams of moving from Chuhuiv (Kharkiv region) to Vinnytsia, renovating his new house and having children with his wife. He loves active sports, and even now, without a prosthesis, he plays table and tennis freely.

Serhii, 41 years old

Before the war, he was a professional basketball player and builder. After the full-scale invasion, he became a military sapper. He served in the southern direction, where he was seriously injured during the liberation of part of the Kherson region in November 2022. Serhiy hit a mine during demining, sustaining multiple injuries and amputation of his lower limb. Now he is ready for prosthetics at Superhumans. After rehabilitation, he dreams of returning home to Kryvyi Rih, where his wife and two children are waiting for him. He wants to continue his professional career in construction, as it is literally necessary to rebuild the country. He wants to inspire people by his example.
