Tymur's struggle with autism

Tymur is 6 years old and has been struggling with autism since the age of 3. The child still does not speak, does not understand spoken language, has no self-care skills, and is on a special strict diet. The mother is raising the boy alone.

The first signs that the child was developing with a delay were noticed by the mother at an early age. He did not respond to spoken language, did not begin to speak, had no eye contact, did not respond to toys, and had no contact with the people around him. At first, doctors reassured and noted the boy's individual characteristics, but when the child turned 3, specialists diagnosed him with childhood autism, amino acid metabolism disorders, hyperhomocysteinemia, secondary mitochondrial dysfunction, and acetonemia.

The mother's life turned into a struggle for her son's health and full life.

It is not known what causes this diagnosis, there are many options, but these are all assumptions. It can be congenital or acquired and leads to a delay in the child's development, lack of speech and understanding of the addressed language, inability to do simple things without the help of adults, and problems with socialization. Tymur is also a poor student, he cannot concentrate, he does not understand human emotions, and he cannot play independently and with other children. If he does not constantly attend correctional classes, such as sensory integration, neurocorrection, ABA therapy, speech therapist and psychologist, the child will remain with developmental delays, and later with severe mental retardation.

Unfortunately, due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, being in the epicenter of shelling and explosions, the child received enormous stress, which led to a "rollback" in development. The mother and son had to leave their home and move to another city, and they are barely making ends meet. But the treatment and rehabilitation courses cannot be stopped, because they are systematic and necessary on an ongoing basis for the boy's mental and psychological development.
