Mikulich Evgen had a great misfortune to become sick in a very sad time for all, during the war in Ukraine. The family of Mikulich comes from the Mariinsky district in Donetsk region. Mikulich Natalia, saving the world's most precious treasure, her child, had taken the boy from occupied Donbas to Kyiv; where he could get help and not to see the horrors of war. They are completely alone in the city; their refuge was the hospital, without employment, no friends and relatives, and only smoldering spark of hope in human kindness.
Evgen's is congenital genetic disease – primary immunodeficiency. The child began to get sick from the first month of life. In the first years of the boy's life has suffered following serious illness: soft tissue infection (paraproctitis, felon), inguinal and cervical lymphadenitis, hypochromic anemia, secondary cardiopathy, angina, atopic dermatitis. Since 2009 the boy has been sick with pneumonia, also for the last three years the boy has been sick with cervical lymphadenitis.
In autumn 2012 Evgen was treated in Kiev City Clinical Hospital №1. After a detailed clinical examination the boy was diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency, chronic granulomatous disease.
Patients with chronic granulomatous disease have to take vital drug gamma interferon "Ingaron" during all their life to keep the immune system. Natalia is not able to buy an expensive drug "Ingaron" continuously, because the price of one bottle is 700 UAH, but the boy must constantly undergo therapy with this drug.
In December 2013 surgeons from the regional children's hospital in Donetsk was diagnosed the right subclavian purulent lymphadenitis, and as a result the boy was operated. Even greater problems appeared when granuloma was operated in December has much inflamed, and began to fester. Natalia could not leave her house long two months; Donetsk hospital could not help the boy. In August Natalia came to Kyiv with her son, in "Okhamadyt" the boy’s wound was cleaned and Evgen was transferred to immunological unit of Regional Pediatric Hospital №1. The hospital took the boy's materials for research. Aspergillus fungus was detected in the wound and blood. Fungal infection is very dangerous for a boy with primary immunodeficiency. Doctors have appointed drug "Vfend" to Evgen, the entire course of treatment takes about 60 bottles. The price of one bottle is 1 900 UAH!
Natalia grows the child singly; to be sure, all earned money goes for Evgen's treatment with "Ingaron". Now the only way to recovery is the drug "Vfend", that's too expensive, but is too effective and needed. Treatment requires 10 bottles of the drug, price of one bottle is 1 900 UAH. 19 000 UAH is a very large sum, and too exorbitant for refugees, who left their home without means of subsistence. Does the child's life cost so little, doesn't it?
