Give Veronica the opportunity to breathe and live

Veronika urgently needs a spinal operation – without it, the girl may die. Conservative treatment did not help; the situation has become critical: the angle of curvature has increased from 40 to 80 degrees. The operation must be performed as soon as possible.

On August 16, 2024, Nika's family evacuated from Myrnohrad, Donetsk region, where they lived under shelling and hid in basements. Halyna did not dare to move for a long time, she was afraid that she would not cope alone, they had no relatives left.

Veronika is in the 10th grade of a Vinnytsia boarding school, where she studies English and German. She dreams of becoming a teacher or translator.

Nika's problems with her spine began at the age of ten. After 2 years, an orthopedist diagnosed her with second-degree scoliosis. Exercise therapy, massage and wearing a Chenot corset could not stop the progression of scoliosis. Perhaps the reason for the development of scoliosis was a rapid growth spurt, when the muscles did not have time to adapt to the rapid change in bone structure.

Nika feels constant pain due to compression of internal organs, especially the lungs, it is very difficult for her to breathe. If the operation is not performed urgently, everything can end tragically.

On February 17, Veronika was consulted at the International Center for Neurosurgery in Kyiv. Neurosurgeon Ihor Kurilets gave the girl hope that he would be able to stop the curvature of the spine and return it to its natural state through surgery. The operation will be performed in Kyiv or Stryi.
