Like every teenager, 16-year-old Kyrylo wants to live a normal, full life filled with activity and color. He loves motorcycles and dreams of owning his own bike. But there is one problem: since early childhood, after breaking his collarbone, Kyrylo has been diagnosed with diabetes. In the second week after the fracture, Kirill began to behave strangely: the quiet, calm child began to simply lose his temper and throw tantrums. Soon, the results of the first tests revealed a terrible diagnosis – diabetes.
At the age of six, with high blood sugar and extremely high cholesterol, the boy ended up in intensive care, but thanks to the doctors and God, he regained consciousness after 10 days in intensive care. Since then, diabetes has become his way of life.
Kyrylo began to grow up, and coping with the disease became increasingly difficult: he even began to lag behind his peers in weight and height, and his health problems increased – ear infections, sinusitis, boils, poor eyesight, intoxication... Sleepless nights due to drops or spikes in blood sugar and fear made his life hell.
Kyrylo has been battling his illness for over 10 years, and the state only provides him with insulin. His grandparents have been his physical, financial, and emotional support throughout his illness. But in recent years, his grandfather, who has cancer, has needed support himself.
Continuous monitoring sensors would help Kyrylo better control his blood sugar levels and improve his quality of life. But again, there is a “but”: such devices and their constant replacement cost a lot of money. So even if he had the sensor itself, it would be impossible for the family to constantly provide it with consumables. The only working member of the family is the father, who has been defending the country in the Kramatorsk direction since the beginning of the ATO, and with the start of a full-scale invasion in Chernihiv, Sumy, and Luhansk, and since last year, he has been defending our country in the Pokrovsk direction. The mother is currently taking care of the children: in addition to Kirill, the family also has a 9-year-old Makar and a 7-year-old Aryna. Kyrylo needs help with sensors.
