Evelinka is a girl with an incredible smile and deep eyes that can warm even the gloomiest of days.
It has been almost two years since diabetes entered this girl's life. Two years of fear, sleepless nights, constant monitoring – and at the same time, immense love and a fight for a happy childhood. A great deal has happened in that time. There were moments when her mother sat beside her at night, afraid to fall asleep. There were sharp blood sugar spikes, hospital stays, tears, and complete exhaustion. But there were also days when they laughed, went for walks, found joy in small things, and almost forgot about diabetes. It is precisely those memories that inspire and give the strength to keep going in this constant battle with the disease.
The first days in hospital were the most frightening, as Evelina's mother knew nothing about diabetes. She simply listened to the doctors and did everything they said. A glucometer, injections, numbers, anxiety. It felt as though life had been split into "before" and "after." The most terrifying thing was not knowing whether she was doing everything right for her little child.
When Evelinka had a glucose monitoring sensor placed for the first time – life changed. For the first time there was a feeling that the situation could at least be partly controlled. The sensor became more than just a device – it became peace of mind, the ability to see danger before it became critical. The chance to give Evelina a more ordinary childhood.
People often say: "Diabetes is just a way of life". But for the parents of a young child, it is not "just" anything. It is constant responsibility, monitoring without pause, and the fear of making a mistake. It is a life in which you cannot fully relax – not during the day, not at night.
Her mother hopes that despite this diagnosis, Evelina will grow up happy, free from fear and pain, and believes that there will be people around her who will help make her life at least a little easier.
Let's help this little one grow and share her smile without pain! Every contribution saves a childhood.
