Breathe without stopping

Oleksii's room is a small emergency department. And the "medical" mother is always there. And the ALV. How to manage without them? Constantly lying on the bed, he will not be able to move himself, and moreover – contractures of arms and legs. Oleksii has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Until the age of five, parents didn't even know about that. And this is the devilry of this genetic disease, which is more common in boys than in girls.

Oleksii was diagnosed in 2013. By 2020, parents have almost accepted and adapted to the lifestyle of a child with a serious illness, in which a person's muscles gradually weaken and need support. But another enemy, COVID-19, worsened the boy's condition by hitting his weak spot - his lungs. And now Oleksii is forever confined to bed and can only breathe with the help of ALV. Still, Oleksii is almost always in a good mood and optimistic. He even inspires his mother to fight, because the strength of his spirit amazes everyone!

The guy is very positive, talkative, which often leads to frequent operation of the ALV signal, he does not have time to provide air for his jabbering. Oleksii is interested in history, geography, biology. Teachers love him very much; the guy is mature like an adult. Favourite topics for conversation are dinosaurs, space, the fate of the universe and the action of humanity in its destruction. Responsive and compassionate, very kind, he pities the weak, and most importantly, always encourages his mother Olena.

- Our day begins with a whole bunch of procedures, where you have to have time for everything, do not forget anything, - says Olena. - All day to monitor the parameters, to be on the alert, while smiling nicely and stay calm, so as not to once again convey my agitation and concern to my son. He is very sensitive to the slightest mental fluctuations, and then tachycardia and, increase in blood pressure. And so all day, from 5 am until late at night!

But now mother Olena is not upset at all. All they dream of is a new portable ALV, because the current old friend sometimes fails. Additional one is needed to replace. If something happens, with such a child, you need to have everything in pairs, of course. All his further life depends only on the working device. Unfortunately, now this is our vital respiration...

The cost of a new ventilator is 300,000 UAH. Almost 40,000 UAH parents have already collected. There are still 260,000 UAH left. Lyosha knows that his life is directly dependent on equipment, and is very afraid of being left without oxygen. Please help him live without fear!
