Ten-year-old Sofiika is a cheerful, kind, and lively girl who has been living with type 1 diabetes for over two years. Her typical day consists of 4-8 insulin injections, constant round-the-clock monitoring of her blood sugar levels, and calculating the weight of every bite of food. This is a daily task and responsibility, without which serious complications are inevitable.

Thanks to charitable assistance, Sofiika has access to sensors for round-the-clock blood glucose monitoring. This significantly improves her quality of life – her mother can see her sugar levels in real time, respond to changes in a timely manner, and prevent hypo- or hyperglycemia. This is not just a matter of convenience, it is a real lifesaver: Sofia does not always feel low sugar levels, and she does not feel high levels at all. But even with constant monitoring, it is very difficult to maintain stable sugar levels. The child's body is growing and reacts to any stress, movement, or even excitement at school. At such moments, regular insulin injections do not always allow the situation to be quickly corrected.

An insulin pump can make treatment more physiological and safer. It automatically delivers insulin in small doses throughout the day, helps to avoid sharp fluctuations in blood sugar more effectively, reduces the number of injections, and relieves the child of the daily stress of injections. For Sofiika, this is not just a device – it is a chance for a stable life and peaceful sleep without fear of nighttime hypo- or hyperglycemia. Unfortunately, the cost of an insulin pump and its consumables is too high for the family, and they cannot afford to buy it on their own. Help this child not to lose faith and self-confidence!
