A girl with a rare disease needs help

"Masha was born a healthy girl, grew up the same as all children her age, began to go to kindergarten," recalls her mother Galina Shekhovtseva. "She was a very active child: she ran, jumped, danced, sang her favorite poems, loved to listen to fairy tales." But when Masha was two years old, trouble happened. The girl began to cry often at night, stopped talking, began to tear books and bite herself, shout and beat, then stopped doing everything and everyone's attention. In short, the girl began to lose communication skills.

From this began her wanderings in hospitals. At the age of 4, Masha was previously diagnosed with Rett syndrome, and later confirmed it after genetic testing. Unfortunately, this genetic disease is not curable, but with good care, rehabilitation and with good and proper treatment of concomitant diagnoses, you can live to old age and return all the acquired skills.

Recently, the girl began to get sick quite often, from 2017-2021 she suffered from numerous pneumonias, sepsis, COVID-19, and numerous epileptic seizures. Miraculously survived!

In Kyiv, an immunologist prescribed Masha treatment with antiviral drugs and immunoglobulin replacement therapy, which now costs 130,000 UAH per month. Treatment should not be interrupted due to virus resistance to drugs, recurrent outbreaks of sepsis, pneumonia and epi-attacks.

"Unfortunately, we do not have such huge funds to undergo all the treatment," Masha's parents admit. "And we're working hard to do that, but that's not enough". The parents spend all the money earned on the girl's treatment. Therefore, they turn to everyone who cares for help.
