A girl from a large family needs help
Her mother gave birth to Mirra at the age of 43, having worked at a metallurgical plant until her birth. The girl became the fifth child of her parents, and by the age of two she was developing like a normal child: she was cheerful and healthy, and started attending kindergarten. But a full-scale war broke out, and with it, hard times in the family. One day, her mother began to notice that Mirra was drinking a lot of water and losing weight. And soon the girl was admitted to the intensive care unit of the district hospital. At that time, the war was already raging in their neighborhood.
Air raids, a new terrible reality with a sick child in her arms. At home, the mother has four children, because the father earns money for all of them far from home. Constant sugar measurements, Mirra's tantrums because of her constant hunger, injections, lack of sleep, tears, despair and fear, so much they had to go through...
Mom was learning to get used to a new difficult life. Her daughter went to kindergarten, learned dances and poems, and prepared for the holidays. In all the photos, Mirra is with other children, smiling and happy despite everything. This year the girl started first grade, she is doing well in her studies, also attends music school and loves to draw. She also never passes by cats – she needs to pet each one, and she has hamsters and a cat named Krotia at home. Mirra has learned to limit herself and endure pain, she can measure her own sugar with a glucometer, and has become an adult and responsible girl so early.
It is very difficult for the family to survive in the current conditions. Her mother wants to believe that a peaceful, calm time will come, and the country will create all possible conditions for a full childhood for children with diabetes, providing them not only with insulin, but also with monitoring, pumps, and rehabilitation. When a child goes to bed and wakes up with “correct” sugar and good mood, when a mother does not worry about insulin supplies, test strips, alcohol wipes, healing ointments, pump supplies, batteries, sensors, etc. Living with a child with diabetes has taught her to appreciate such simple things that others might not have noticed. The round-the-clock monitoring sensors make life much easier, but their price is unaffordable for the family. Help us to buy them!
