Mirroslava is seven years old. Is that a lot or a little? It's hard to say – she's so young, but sometimes her maturity surpasses that of older people. That's because she has to be responsible, disciplined, and patient – type 1 diabetes requires it of her.
The disease requires a strict schedule: it is vital to measure blood sugar levels on time, administer insulin, and take into account a huge number of factors and nuances that others have the luxury of ignoring. This means constant self-control for the sake of opportunity, for the right to be like everyone else – to play, learn, and grow.
Mirroslava is lucky to live in a time when people with diabetes have the chance to live a practically normal life thanks to the technological advances of the modern world. Another achievement, however, is the sky-high prices of its fruits – prices that are far from affordable for everyone. An insulin pump is the ability to administer insulin at any necessary moment, to regulate and change it according to the needs of the body, which is constantly growing and changing. Without an insulin pump, a child will lose a significant part of their comfort and freedom.
Mirroslava is a girl with character. Persistent, sociable, and creative, she knows how to stand up for her opinions and protect what she loves. And she loves many things: walking with friends, playing with animals and feeding them, music school classes, dance clubs, beadwork, and technical modeling. Help this girl not lose her passions to her illness!
