Dmytryk waits for the surgery
5-year-old Dima has a deformation of both extremities caused by a genetic disease. The kid has phosphate diabetes. It’s a disease that brings calcium and phosphorus from the body. The child grows, the bones of his skeleton still bent. In Dima’s case medical treatment is not enough. Because of the progression of deformation it was scheduled an operative treatment using intromedullar telescopic clamps. These designs of clamps are manufactured individually. The boy’s treating cost - 40 000 UAH.
Dima Brovchenko - very expected child. He was growing and developing as all the kids of his age. But over time, the parents noticed that his son’s legs began to curve. At first, the doctors assured that this is just a hip dysplasia, but later it turned out that, unfortunately, the child be handed over to his mother's phosphate diabetes. This disease is characterized by excessive flexibility and fragility of bones that leads to the complete inability of independent movement on his feet.
In summer 2014 Dima began to complain of pain in the legs, it was hard to walk, but even through the pain, he tried to move slowly. From cheerful child Dima became a child who constantly suffers pain. In September, the boy was examined in the Kharkov Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology them. prof. Sitenko and he was prompt the treatment, because of the rapid progress of the disease.
The first operation was performed on the left leg on 20 March 2015. The result was evident right away - leg became smooth. After the operation, Dima walks on crutches with compensation in the soles of shoes on the right leg, because now left leg is longer than 6 cm. He ss looking forward to the second operation, which is already scheduled for the end of August. In fact, after the operation the boy will run again. Now his greatest dream - to go back to kindergarten, where his friends are waiting for him.
The question is: "Will the disease disappear after the treatment?"
You can’t "fix" a metabolic disorder in the phosphate diabetes. But adults lack the amount of calcium and phosphorus, which is still absorbed by the body.
The main thing is not to lose the time and to perform the surgery. The operation, which will help little boy stand and run on his healthy legs. It will help to fulfill Dima’s dream.
