Kira: learning, growing, living

From birth, Kira’s development was noticeably delayed, and by the age of one and a half, she began showing signs of epileptic activity. After numerous examinations and consultations, doctors diagnosed her with a neurodevelopmental disorder, likely of genetic origin, as well as autism spectrum disorder.

Kira is now five years old. She loves swimming in the pool and jumping on the trampoline but struggles in loud or crowded environments. While she has caught up with her peers in terms of physical development, she still experiences delays in speech and cognitive development. Kira speaks very little, partially understands spoken language, and only occasionally responds to her name. She follows simple household requests and rules when she wants to, but under pressure, she may show aggression toward herself and others.

Since the age of one, Kira has been regularly working with a speech therapist, special education teacher, correctional pedagogue, and rehabilitation specialist. She is learning self-care skills and how to respond to others' requests. She is also working on focusing her attention and managing her emotions. It’s not an easy journey, but her parents are already seeing positive changes in her behavior.
