Yulichka was born prematurely at 33 weeks of pregnancy with a diagnosis of anemia of prematurity. She was also found to have congenital pneumonia, moderate respiratory distress, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, and suppression syndrome. At birth, the tiny girl weighed just 1,700 grams.
The first 3 weeks of Yulia's life were very difficult: intensive care, a mechanical ventilator, tube feeding – and no prognoses or hope. Then came two surgeries: one on her eyes, and one for a right-sided inguinal hernia. Only after 2 months was the girl discharged home.
When Yulia turned 7 months old, she was diagnosed with motor impairment syndrome and developmental delay. A new life began, filled with physical therapy, massages, and baths.
The girl is now 4 years old and has left-sided spastic hemiparesis – partial paralysis or weakness of the left side of the body (arm and leg) with increased muscle tone.
"We work without stopping, Yulichka is very diligent. She does many tasks and physical therapy exercises, attends massages, and we also work on her general development. Treatment is helping her, and rehabilitation is very much needed as her body requires support. We still have a great deal to work on, as her gait is not yet fully correct. That is why we are asking for help with the next rehabilitation course – it is very hard to manage on our own," says the girl's mother, who dreams of seeing her daughter take independent steps.
Together with you, we can join in making this dream come true – all it takes is supporting our project so that Yulia can attend a new rehabilitation course. Please join us!
